Eos v3.1.5 is the latest software version for all currently-shipping Eos Family products. So why is Eos v2.9 still a current software option? Some legacy Eos devices are unable to run Eos v3.0 and above. Eos v2.9 is feature complete but receives occasional updates to include new fixture libraries. Users working with affected devices should download Eos v2.9.3.

There are many different open source licenses but they all must comply with the Open Source Definition - in brief: the software can be freely used, modified and shared.
This license is commonly used for video games and it allows users to download and play the game for free. Basically, a product is offered Free to Play (Freemium) and the user can decide if he wants to pay the money (Premium) for additional features, services, virtual or physical goods that expand the functionality of the game. In some cases, ads may be show to the users.
Demo programs have a limited functionality for free, but charge for an advanced set of features or for the removal of advertisements from the program's interfaces. In some cases, all the functionality is disabled until the license is purchased. Demos are usually not time-limited (like Trial software) but the functionality is limited.
This software is no longer available for the download. This could be due to the program being discontinued, having a security issue or for other reasons.

I am trying to download a 301GB file from my R5 CFexpress card onto my Macbook Pro hard drive, which has 386GB free and I have emptied the trash completely. Why is this happening? There is plenty of room to download the file to my Mac.
I have previously downloaded a file this big to an external SSD card which had enough free space and that download did work (although it took 2 hours to do so). So I free up enough main memory on my Mac to download it faster but now it says, "Insufficient free space at destination. Specify a new destination."
Try this! If you can download a 300GB file to an external SSD, then try to copy it from the SSD to your hard drive. Do you still get the "insufficient space" message? If you still get the message, then you have an Apple problem, not a Canon problem.
The only thing I can think of is that overnight (with the Mac still "on") I'm guessing it had time to auto-rearrange memory so that it had it's free memory all put into a single contiguous block. That would explain it. But I don't know if Macs do this or not. And I don't know if the Mac has "virtual memory" which can instantly re-assign blocks of memory as needed so that a large file doesn't have to be stored to a single continguous block of memory.
